Dog Dino

I have a question about Dino, my male dog staffordshire bull terrier

My dog was involved in an altercation with another dog they are both of the same breed. I have agreed initially to pay the vet bill the 1st one was for the antibiotics and anti inflammatory she has now taken her dog back for the check up and is telling me that the dog has a crush injury that will need surgery and also has an abscess. My question is can a crush injury be diagnosed without an X-ray also would that not have been recognised on the 1st consultation also if a dog is given antibiotics straight away in a week can an abscess form? Please help kim

Yes it can. If in the first visit or was not X-ray (depends on when the crush injury) or was done but had a lot of inflammation and did not appreciate well. As for the abscess, it is also possible, especially if not a single bone was removed from the wound after cleaning and disinfecting it correctly. In any case, if the other owner wants you to pay for the veterinary costs, you can ask for the diagnostic tests or the injury report issued to the vet.

All the best,
