She has lumps on her elbows that have been surgically removed previously but they grow back. They are full of a substance that comes out like black heads. The lumps are sore and can crack. She is currently taking atopic which has had no effect as yet. The vet feels it is her body's reaction in a way similar to how it responds to an allergen. I would like to know what it is and how to treat it. Thank you
Good morning, I imagine that your veterinarian would previously analyze the excised lumps. It would be convenient to do a biopsy to know what it is and once the diagnosis is established, guide the corresponding treatment. In the area of the elbows, due to friction, it is common for calluses to form that can crack, however in the photos I see a very severe inflammatory process, hence it would be prudent to take a biopsy and analyze the affected area.
