Dog Chloe

Chloe, my female dog mixed with poodle, has panting, inflamed abdomen, and weight gain

I have a maltipoo and she’s pregnant. I took her rectal temperature yesterday morning and it was at 100.1 then again at night and it was at 98.3, so I imagined she was gonna have her puppies within 24 hours, at least that’s what I read. Then again this morning I took her temperature and it was at 98.5 and later on it went back up to 100.2. I want to know if this is normal.

That's normal. At the beginning of the symptoms of giving birth the dog is restless, walks around, breathes faster, lies down and gets up.
It is usually recommended to let pass around 6 hours of the beginning of these symptoms and there is no need to worry.

If it lasts longer, it could be a dystocic delivery (bad position of the foetus or the puppies are too big) and if so, she will need a c-section.

From when the first puppy is born, do not wait more than 2h between each one of them. The normal thing is that between one puppy and another there is 30 minutes till 1 hour, if more time passes, you must notify your veterinarian in order to visit the clinic before it passes 2 hours from the last puppy born.

All the best,
