Bird Dori

Dori, my male bird mixed with puerto rican parrot, has vomit

Doctor. My parrot has a lot of vomit, but he does not let go, he swallows it again! We went to the vet and they did not tell us anything specific, they only gave us medicine for vomiting and for infection, but we stopped giving it because it started to get sleepy and decayed, I did not want to eat. When we stopped dancing, he started being the same playful but he continues with the vomit.

You should take him to a veterinary clinic for exótico animals again, so they can check Dori to check why it does not empty properly the crop. Perhaps a fermentation has occurred and there is bacterial or fungal overgrowth.

The continuous vomiting produces a metabolic acidosis that cause weakness in the bird. It could be a fungal problem that usually occurs when the crop has not been emptied correctly with vomiting and the bird returns to eat, then a fermentation takes place in which the fungi take advantage to grow. But it could also be a bacterial infection.

All the best,
