Dog Dulce

Dulce, my female dog shih tzu, has wheezing, loss of hair, and sneezing

We cleaned the house with bleach and she seemed to have inhaled some and may have licked her paws. She keeps having pauses and then goes into a sneezing hysteria. She starts coughing and wheezing as she struggles for air. I don’t know if this is an allergy or something else

You should take Dulce to your vet as soon as possible. There are several possible causes for these symptoms: heart problems, lung disease, mediastinal tumor (common in senior dogs), etc. All these conditions can lead to pulmonary edema (the presence of fluid in the lungs), which generates breathing difficulties (gasping) and noise (wheezing).

On the other hand, if it is connected with inhaling bleach, it could be the allergy or intoxication.

The best would be to take your dog to your vet, who will assess her and perform a blood test and chest X-ray in order to determine the cause of mentioned symptoms.

All the best for you and Dulce.
