I have a question about a pet

found a stray cat at my doorstep. Quite friendly and enjoyed the cat food and water I gave it sometime later. The cat is young, not a kitten but doesn't look quite like an adult either. I am searching for a no kill rescue for it or an adoptive family. Is it ok to handle the cat? It is friendly, not agressive and seems to want attention. Should I be worried about Rabies? I am from California.

I can not say to you if the cat can have or not rabies because it would be neccessary a blood test to check if the cat has the Rabies disease. But it is not easy to find animals with rabies in California.
If you start to see that the cat begins to have a strange behaviour and a lot of spit, then it might have the Rabies disease.
For the moment, you can give it food and water.

Kind regards,
