Dog Coco

I have doubts about pregnancy or reproduction of Coco, my female dog pit bull

I think she is going through a false pregnancy. We got her from a friend , and she is unspayed. She got out on her 10th day of heat, and was found running around with an intanct male. Her teats have always been slightly bigge due to her never being spayed, but they have grown much larger, and they hang a lot more and the back 4 are starting to swell . She’s had all signs, tiredness , vomiting on 2 occasions , off her food for 3-4 days at around 3 weeks I think. No nesting behaviors but I noticed some clear stringy (like egg whites and snot consistency) about 2-3 days ago. She is slightly thicker around the waist but mainly just the teats and the discharge are noticeable. If she was “pregnant “ she would be 60 days today (6-20-2018) this was the only time she was exposed to anything during her heat cycle until about a 15 days after the incident . Is this normal? And how long does it last? She’s been showing signs of pregnancy or false pregnancy since she was 3 weeks. I’m highly doubtful of a true pregnancy because of her lack of size growth and I can’t feel / see anything at all.

Occasionally, between 6 and 14 weeks after being in heat, some dogs develop a clinical pseudogestation or false pregnancy with various characteristic signs: breast growth (with or without milk secretion) behavior changes, etc. Coco should be supervised by a veterinarian, as she may develop mastitis or breast infection.

On the other hand, if she was near male dog, it is possible that she is really pregnant. The best would be to take her to a vet who will determine if she is pregnant or if it is a false pregnancy.

In both cases, your vet will give you clear guidelines on how to proceed.

All the best.
