Rodent Peanut

Peanut, my female rodent hamster, has noisy breathing

I’ve noticed behavioral changes in my hamster that have worried about. She’s been eating and sleeping more than usual and I can tell she’s gained some weight. Whenever I open the cage door she usually comes over to greet me but instead she just sits in her nest, breathing fast. I recently lost one of my other hamsters that Peanut was interested in but didn’t get along with. Should I be consurned?

We can't know what causes those symptoms to Peanut without performing some tests. It is necessary to bring Peanut as soon as possible to a veterinary center for proper evaluation. She may require some clinical tests such as x-rays for a good diagnosis to see what type of infection or respiratory problem she may be suffering.

All the best.
