8 Toxic Foods You Should Never Feed Your Dog

Our team is formed for veterinarians, ethologists, and animal health content experts.

Some pet owners love to spoil their furry fiends with a little reward from the table. But there is actually a lot of "human food" that your dog should ever eat. It might be dangerous.

1. Avocado

Avocado contains a substance called persin. It is actually a fungicidal toxin harmless to humans, but dangerous for domestic animals in large quantities.

2. Alcohol

Alcohol does the same damage to your dog's liver than yours, but your dog's weight is much lower.

3. Onions

Onion destroys your dog's blood cells. A small quantity might be safe, once. If eaten regularly, even in small amounts, can cause poisoning.

4. Grapes and Raisins

Grapes and raisins can cause kidney failure.

5. Macadamia nuts

As few as 5-6 macadamia nuts can be fatal for dogs.

6. Caffeine

Caffeine can be fatal for your dog. Be careful, because caffeine is not only present in Coca Cola or coffee, but also in chocolate, tea, stimulant drinks... none of those are good for your dog.

7. Candy

Sugar can cause your dog diabetes and obesity. Also, some contain xylitol, highly toxic for dogs. In just a couple of days your dog might have liver failure.

8. Chocolate

We all know chocolate is bad for dogs. Still, there are some people who choose to ignore that. Chocolate has a substance called theobromine that can cause breathing problems and affect your dog's heart rhythm.
