    Meet the legendary Mrs 'Chochi'. It was night and we were heading out for a walk. When we started the car, a little dog got scared and hid. She was soaking wet and filthy, with so many dreadlocks and knots we couldn't even tell if she was a boy or a girl. No microchip, so we took her home. The next day she met the rest of the family and got a well-deserved trip to the groomer. That was the start of her brand-new life with us.

    This old boy was wandering the streets of my village one Tuesday night. It was so late the police told us the shelter was closed, so we took him home and he slept warm and cosy (far away from our dog, who is not a people person). In the morning he went to the shelter. Sadly, his owner was irresponsible: it wasn't the first time he'd run away, and he needed an external tumour removed that was bothering him.

Do you cover my pet for their whole life?
Yes. Barkibu is for life. Once you're in, you can stay as long as you like. Just one condition: when you take out the policy, your dog or cat must be over 2 months and under 11 years old.
Any discounts for big pet families?
Yes! The more pets, the merrier. Every extra pet comes with a discount. Add them all and get your price.
Can I keep going to my usual vet?
Of course. Stick with your vet or pick any other: with us you can go to any vet or vet clinic in Spain. No closed network, no hassle.
Do you accept all pets?
We insure dogs and cats of every breed. They just need to be over 2 months and under 11 years old when you take out the policy. Unfortunately we can't insure animals that aren't companion pets, meaning those used for commercial purposes like hunting, herding, breeding, guarding or competing.
How do I claim a refund?
Super easy. Send the vet's invoice and report through the app, and we'll handle the rest. You get the money in under 72 hours.
What does Barkibu insurance cover?
Illnesses, accidents and everything that comes with them: consultations, tests, surgery, medication... and prevention too. In short: when your pet needs help, we pay 80%.
How is my insurance price calculated?
Your price depends on your pet's species (dog or cat), breed, sex and age.
Does my pet really need health insurance?
Picture this: your pet has an accident or gets sick and you have no insurance. Every single cost lands on you. Pet insurance gives you peace of mind, because you know the unexpected is covered.
When's the best time to insure my pet?
The sooner, the better: ideally while they're still a puppy or kitten. But you can also insure them later, up to 11 years old. The longer you wait, the bigger the risk that health problems your pet already has won't be covered.
How much does pet insurance cost?
